The people of the island aim to have a more pleasant and relaxing island lifestyle where those of all ages can enjoy themselves. It is one of the wellness island projects of the prefecture, which aims to provide a new style of tourism wherein guests can relax physically and mentally through long and participatory stays. The plan is to provide programs in which locals can learn the island's culture, art, and coral ecology as well as provide tours to have contact with nature, including stargazing and whale watching.
