Coral Fences Remain on the Island Tokashiki Island has a tragic history of war that burned the entire island, including houses and mountains, wherein 329 inhabitants committed mass suicide. Like any other outlying island, Tokashiki has been suffering from an excessive population decline. However, a gradual increase has been noted in the past four to five years and the number of young visitors, most of whom are divers, is also increasing.
